Before installing your Bright Ideas¨ fonts, first, check your system software version Before you install your Bright Ideas¨ fonts, you need to know the version number of System 7 you are using. To see the version number: Click on the Menu Bar Apple Select "About This Macintosh" Note System Software number: 7.0, 7.1 or , 7.5 How to install Macintosh fonts Installing TrueType Fonts (Recommended, if you do not use Adobe Type Manager) Insert this disk in your CD-ROM drive. The Bright Ideas¨ window opens. Find the Fonts icon and open (double click) it. You will see eight folders. Open the folder with the font name you want to install; each folder contains two sub-folders. (TrueType or Type 1). We recommend that you use TrueType if you do not use Adobe Type Manager. Open the TrueType folder. You'll see a suitcase icon with an "A" and a shortened version of the font name. . For System 7.X drag'n drop (click, hold the button down and move) the suitcase, from the folder on the CD-ROM to the System Folder. You'll see this message displayed: "Fonts need to be stored in the Fonts FolderÉ" Select OK. The font is copied to the Fonts folder inside the System Folder. The font is now available. Installing Type 1 Fonts (Recommended, if you use Adobe Type Manager for high-end output services) For System 7.1, and higher, Type 1 fonts, are installed the same way as TrueType fonts. Please notice that TrueType fonts have only one icon; Type 1 fonts have two, or sometimes three icons to a folder. Just select all the icons that appear in any Type 1 folder and drag'n drop them on the System Folder. System 7.0, has one important exception: the Type 1 printer icon needs to be manually moved to the Extensions Folder. Moving The Type 1 Printer Icon (System 7.0 users only) drag'n drop all the font's icons onto the System Folder. After you see the message: "Fonts need to be stored in the Fonts Folder" and click OK , do this: Open the System Folder ( double-click on it ) Locate the Fonts folder and open it. Find the printer Icon for the font ( the one you just copied to the System Folder). Drag'n drop the printer icon onto the Extensions Folder. The font is now be available. NOTE: Never Install a TrueType and Type 1 font with the same name.
